Bishop Alvin J. McCoy is the Founder, Prelate, and Chief Apostle of Apostolic Ministries Incorporated. He is also the Founder of Greater New and Living Way Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ, the headquarters church for Apostolic Ministries.
Bishop McCoy founded Apostolic Ministries in 1979 with a vision to carry out the great commission through establishing Christian Schools and training for ministers and then establishing churches to carry the gospel to every creature. He incorporated the ministry with the state of Pennsylvania, a year later. In 1981, a word of prophecy and the vision for souls led the current headquarters church.
Bishop was born and raised in Farrell, Pennsylvania and reared by his mother, the late Rosa Mae Farrow-McCoy. Bishop's aunt, Mother Irene-Johnson, was also instrumental in helping to raise him and is now Greater New and Living Way senior church mother. Elder Lisa McCoy became Bishop's lovely bride on July 29, 1978. Bishop is the father of one adopted son, Brian Yopp, and the proud grandfather of two lovely granddaughters. His eldest sister, Overseer Flora Newby, is a local overseer at the headquarters church and the National Minister of Music. Bishop is a spiritual father to many spiritual sons and daughters.
Bishop obtained his theological training at S.M.E.A. Bible Institute in Transfer, Pennsylvania, The School of Ministerial Studies in Streetsboro, Ohio, and The Grand Rapids School of Bible and Music in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He is certified by the American Board pastor of Triumph the Church and Kingdom of God in Christ, Battle Creek, Michigan; associate minister of Faith Temple, Sharpsville, Pennsylvania; associate minister of Tabernacle of God, Ravenna, Ohio; and founder of Tabernacle of God in Chiefland, Florida. Bishop has evangelized across the United States proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ and the salvation message of Acts 2:38.
Bishop McCoy's accomplishments include but are not limited to the following:
*Founded Gems of Apostolic Truth Radio Broadcast, which aired for over 20 years and recently restarted the radio ministry with Fresh Wind Apostolic broadcast.
*Founded the Full Gospel Bible Institute of Farrell, PA
*Recipient of the 1992 Mercer County Frontiers Club Community Service Award
*Provided vision for establishment of Oasis Center Inc. faith based community project
*Authored 3 books: "One God, One God Only," "Words of Life," and "Words of Inspiration"
*Founded Transitional House of Restoration for Men
Bishop McCoy is now the prelate over 10 established churches and two personal ministries seven states and is experiencing the realization of the vision that God gave him 33 years ago for ministry. Of all his major accomplishments, Bishop Alvin J. McCoy considers winning souls for our Lord Jesus Christ the most important. The Apostolic Ministries' spiritual family thanks God for this great apostle, prophet, visionary, mentor, pastor, and friend and we are privileged to help carry out the vision that God has given him.
