Who am I? In all of our lives at one point of time or another, we've questioned who we are. Some of us were asked by our leaders (Parents, Teachers, Bosses) who are…and we say what we think they want to hear, and not what we know. Sadly, we answer this way because WE don’t really know. The funny thing is there are personality tests and different tools used in the world to assess who they THINK you are, but the only one who can properly answer that is the one who made you. Reflect on when you purchase materials or equipment from Apple, you go to Apple’s tech support to find out the proper use of it or the resolving of an issue. You do not go to Samsung to find out the intricacies of Apple, you go to the one who knows it and has been trained on it. In the same manner, we cannot go to the world to find out who we are. Identification in Reverse What if Jesus posed to us the same question he gave to Simon Barjona (Peter)? How would we answer the question? Would we answer based off of what we have seen, or what is revealed to us? Can you imagine Simon’s frustration and hurt when Jesus repeated the question to him three times. I can imagine him becoming embarrassed and possibly thinking to himself: Oh Lord, why me? It is almost as if the Lord is asking, “who am I to you?” What if we participated in the same type of questioning with our family members, friends, and co-workers, what do you think they would say? I just asked a family member and their response was completely correct, which was funny and it really threw me for a loop in a good way. On the other hand, Satan our adversary is determined to make sin look free…but it is far from the truth. Choosing the life sin has negative consequences for the temporary feeling. Sin causes a person to miss out on God and fulfill the lust of the flesh. This is never worth it. As this comes to a close, remember like stated above, freedom in Christ gives you the ability to move in him according to His word. Unfortunately, the enemy makes people feel like they are free in their sin, but they are actually bound. Freedom is a gift given to all those who choose a true life in Christ, so choose freedom!!!!
