Selah: To stop and think: Question: How many times have we heard God speak to our hearts to do something, but our logic (understanding and reasoning) block it causing us to do opposite of God's desire and direction. Proverbs 3:5-7 (KJV) says "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil." Since the Lord inspired King Solomon to write this proverb and we believe the Bible is God's voice for our now issues...then why is it so hard to trust? In many cases, the answer lies in the person’s ability to trust God’s word. Let’s examine this word “trust.” According to the Strong-Lite Concordance, trust is defined as “having confidence, to be secure, to be bold.” God wants us to be secure in His word and be bold enough to trust Him. Have you ever noticed, in your own lives as well as others, that it is easier to trust in what you see, than in what you don’t? We live in an age of the tangible. Apostle Sonja often mentions the fact that we live in the mindset of the “show me” state, but what happens to the times when God doesn’t show you? Do you shut down and get angry with God, or do you apply the principles in the Word of God. God is so wise, he knew there would be times that he would not answer immediately, thus He said to wait and be of good courage (Psalm 27:14). He also told us to “Be still and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth (Psalms 46:10). Heard who? Spoke what? Many think they hear the voice of God, but never open His word, so what voice are you listening to? Jesus said "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:" John 10:27 (KJV) God will not and does not speak outside of His word. The ironic thing is we don't realize, we are ACTIVELY and ACTUALLY walking out God's spoken words from the beginning. This concept is so amazing when we step back and think about it, when God said “Let there be…,” everything is held in place by those powerful three words. Statements like this causes many saints to fall in love with God even more, because the statement takes on a completely different meaning. When we begin to fall in love with God, his words are our very life and breath. This is what causes us to follow Christ and not another, due to the fact that we cannot inhale contaminated air, it causes asphyxiation. So, if you are His sheep, you'll recognize his voice in your life. Don't fight his words, but flow and trust in Him. Align yourself with the Word of God and prosper spiritually, physically, emotionally, and financially!!! Joseph: Patience In Distress Let us look at a good example of alignment with God’s wisdom. We have all heard the story of Joseph, but sometime we take it as common knowledge and a bedtime story, but this man aligned his self with God no matter what the cost. Joseph had every reason not to trust, but from the testimony and teachings of his father, he had no other choice…he HAD to believe. Joseph is a model of patience and longsuffering through distress. Similar to Joseph, we have all had our encounters which caused our faith to shake, but when we are planted in God’s word a spiritual earthquake could come and shake us; however we are firmly planted in the truth. What is this truth? Simply put: Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” If we can keep a firm hand on this, we’ll be ok with the bumps in the road; because they are fellow laborers. Remember and rest in Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” The Scribe
