 “My enlightenment came when I turned my back on the day of darkness.”
Days of Darkness “…And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep…” When I was a child I had a serious problem with the dark, as I suspect most children had. Now that I am older, I realize the fear is in the unknown. The void and absence of light and sound rang louder than the television set in the other room. The thoughts that would run through my mind involved what “could be” lurking in the darkness as opposed to what really was in the darkness. Shadows took on appearance that with light would not incite terror in the day. As my age advanced, that fear was conquered and another terror began. Like many people that received salvation at a young age, I turned my back for the darkness of the world. The lights and the fun came at a price which I had to pay every time I engaged in actions contrary to what I already knew…but haven’t we all? Dark days are never fun. I have found out the seduction is in what we see. When we play in darkness, we slowly get covered in it causing us to compare the light of a flashlight to the all consuming light of God. But what I love about God is this fact: He is NEVER far from us. All he is doing and was doing is waiting for the flashlight of the world to go out, which happens when we turn our back on darkness and embrace His enlightenment. This first step is called “Salvation,” we have rejected the world’s fake and little light and turned to Jesus, accepting Him in our lives. Let there be…Salvation. Let there be… People of God, we all have the moment where we allow God to say in our spirit "Let there be light." This happens when we ask God to know more of him. In Psalm 63: 1-2 "O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary." Psalm 27:8 says "When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek." Isaiah 26:9 states "With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness." God desires for us to come closer to him so he can shed more light to us, but with the light also comes exposure. Exposure is needed to show that which is hiding in our spirit, but the exposure also causes pain. The pain of knowing we have offended another or facing the hidden issues of our past and present. However, I dare you to change your perspective: instead of seeing it as God is causing me too much pain; see it as God wants me closer and because he's Holy, I must be Holy (1 Peter 1:16). God desires me as a part of his Bride so I must be without spot, wrinkle, blemish, or any such thing (Ephesians 5:27). I must be properly dressed, I can't come in and consciously decide to remain the same (2 Corinthians 5:17; Matthew 22:2-14 [Really look at verses 11-13 dress properly]) I must change my heart and my mind (Philippians 2:6). Saints, ultimately all our Lord wants to do in our lives is MAKE US READY for him (Revelation 19:7-9). Consider this: What bride, knowing her wedding is coming, doesn't prepare? Just like in the natural we get ready for our spouses, God is making us ready for him. Will you be ready? The Scribe
